Nihoniho Community Chronicle
Empowering Local Voices
The Nihoniho Community Chronicle is a vibrant, culturally rooted publication dedicated to amplifying the voices and stories of Ngāti Toi and the broader Nihoniho community. Serving as both a historical record and a contemporary platform, it bridges generations by weaving together pūrākau (ancestral narratives), and modern news on local events, marae updates, youth initiatives, and environmental stewardship. With a strong emphasis on manaakitanga (hospitality) and kaitiakitanga (guardianship), the Chronicle prioritizes ethical storytelling, te reo Māori revitalization, and community collaboration—featuring profiles of kaumātua, rangatahi perspectives, and practical resources like event calendars and health updates. Designed to foster unity and resilience, it celebrates Ngāti Toi’s unique identity while addressing pressing local issues, ensuring every story honors the past, informs the present, and empowers the future.
